Paris Haute Couture '14

The couture shows are always my favourite fashion events: experimentation, luxurious fabrics and billowing dresses (swoon). And no one quite knows how to do haute couture like the Parisians.

If you haven't been watching the shows, I'd suggest having a trawl through the masses of articles online. There have been some wonderful pieces hauled down the catwalk this season.

Viktor & Rolf was a particular highlight of mine and my love for them and their work will never diminish, it seems. Armani Prive's shimmering metallics in purple hues stole my heart and Raf Simons worked his magic for Dior once more with loose shapes and silhouettes.

Here are a few of my other highlights from this week:

Elie Saab

There's complete charm in femininity and Saab has worked that ethic to perfection here. The modern princess gowns slithered down the catwalks, draping appliqued and embellished fabrics in trains behind the models. It was a collection of simple showstoppers which are wearable (for the right occasion), all in perfect hues.

These pastel creations are phenomenal and make me will Spring/Summer to be on us immediately. The sky blue dress with the ruffled train is such a beauty and would be perfect on the red carpet.

Martin Margiela

Ah Margiela strikes again. And amongst all the runway girliness for SS14 comes graphic prints, tough sequins and beautiful cuts, just to ruffle a few feathers. Martin Margiela, whether in the 'Maison' or not, consistently brings an edge to fashion week and manages to excite, entice and invent.
